Chelmsford Pony Parties for Kids – Riding School Birthday Fun
Looking for a fun, memorable and unique way to celebrate your child’s birthday? At Chelmsford Equestrian Centre’s Birthday Pony Parties, we offer specially designed pony-party sessions for young riders — whether they’re beginners or already enjoying lead-rein riding lessons.
Our pony-party packages blend hands-on pony care, riding, and party fun in a safe, supervised and friendly environment. Children groom and tack up their ponies, enjoy guided riding and gymkhana-style games, then relax with cake and party treats with friends.
With small group sizes, careful supervision, and hat and boot hire included, our Pony Parties make for a hassle-free, magical birthday experience that parents and children love alike.
group parties
Birthday party sessions are tailored to beginner riders or those children riding in our lead-rein lessons.
Duration – 1 hour
Session consists of:
- 30 minutes introduction to the ponies and “on the ground” with their pony learning how to groom and helping to tack up.
- 30 minutes of riding with gymkhana style games matched to the children’s riding ability
- 30 minutes at the end for cake and party bags (supplied by parent) in our party room.
We will supply rosettes for each child to be placed in the party bags (which are to be supplied by the parent).
- Minimum age = 7
- Maximum age = 12
- Maximum Party size = 6 children
- Minimum Party size = 4
Costs
- Vary depending on requirements – please discuss with reception
Hat and boot hire included.
- Maximum weight limit 10 stone
- A £50 deposit is required to book, with the balance to be paid 2 weeks in advance of the party.
- A 48-hour cancellation policy applies.
one to one sessions
We now offer 1 to 1 party sessions for children.
Duration – 1 hour
Session consists of:
- 10 minutes being shown around the riding school, meeting the other ponies.
- 20 minutes “on the ground” with the pony learning how to tie up and groom.
- 30 minutes 1 to 1 riding tuition.
The child will be given a birthday rosette at the end of the session.
- Minimum age = 5
- Maximum age = 15
Cost
- 1 hour for £61.50 – hat and boot hire included.
- For an extra £40 they can bring a friend.

Party availability is very limited, please discuss requirements with reception.
Parents will need to complete a booking form in advance of the party with details of the children. A registration form for each child will need to be completed by their parents before the party can commence. We recommend that the Group arrives at least 10 minutes early to complete the forms and familiarise themselves with the site.
The use of our riding hats and boots is included in the price of our birthday events.
A 48-hour notice cancellation policy applies to our Birthday Parties and One To One sessions.
